welcome

..here and Helsinki,Finland:)

Spring days

A real HUMAK event.
Every year autumn and spring all of HUMAK staff gather in a nice countryside place to talk about several topics.

This Year Peurunka was the place to talk about "good practices"in their work.
Group works and tasks helped to brainstorm and nice meals treat the exhausted staff.
The university has more than 140 employee , it is a difficult thing to have all of them in one place , but the organizers managed.
They allowed me to join , which was a nice experience , especially that one of the group spoke english so I could think about their topics as well.
Mood was definetely cheerful , the place close to the nature and everybody reliefed a bit after stress of everydays.
I started a finnish course lately , which makes my life complicated but I learn a lot every single day so it is really worth it.This course is held in Kaapali - The Cable factory.I can suggest to everybody to visit there.Lot of museum and cultural events during weekdays and weekend, special cultural workshops and courses can be found there.

Next weekend will be a celebration , Vappu comes which is a big day and day off    Finland.plenty of drinking and fun makes it even more remarkable.I do not have experience about Vappu in Helsinki but will tell you later.

Till that  , EMMA museum in Espoo my next tip, especially on Wednesdays and Thursdays!

OF course Peurunka located beside a lake(one of the thousands). Was so beautiful..
Employees could win awards if their practices were extremely useful , so they did!

Even more time ago..

BUT it is beacuse I am very busy here , which is a good thing.Last weeks I had great tasks connecte to event organizing , and I enjoyed it very much! Also started to make assignment to my home institutions which is pretty much necessary.
I also discovered the bauty of 3D movies.Of course I watched some movie at home in 3D but Alice in wonderland an amazing with special effects! Also visited EMMA museum but could not get in , so i will have one more round.Design museum is one of the plans for the weekend.I also experienced Helsinki nightlife , with live music in a bar and in a huge party , but i could only tell details in person.Anyway , great city I love Helsinki even more than before so intercultural , modern , fresh and...cold,still cold in comparison with other capitals but in few weeks, the nicest spring weather will be on plate I hope. This week I start a finnish course every day after work, 4 hours intensive practise.this will be tiring but definetely worth to know at least basic finnish.Thursday and Friday will be fun, there will be an event for HUMAK`s personell , which means all of us go to the countryside to talak about quality in each others jobs.Soon Vappu is coming , again a lot of fun and my birthday.

Catch up soon,xoxo

Long time ago..sorry

My last post was before the Easter Holiday .It was a five -day holiday.Sadly , I did not really have Easter feeling. In Hungary most of the people celebrate Easter somehow. If they are religious they go the church every day of the celebration , if they are not still do something traditional , for example paint eggs , cook delicious Easter meal..My flatmate went to his hometown ,and I did not have any idea what to do in the weekend.I decided to write few assignment to my home institution , but the inernet connection disappeared after few day in the flat , so it was impossible to do it.On Friday my hungarian friend Agi called me to go to the centre , to drink a little bit in a bar, she invited two of her friends from their finnish class , it was nice to get to know more people here in Helsinki.I got home very late rather early in the morning.I took walk several time in the weekend even tough the weather was rainy and foggy.I went to vote on sunday. There is going to be election in Hungary this weekend , but it is possible to vote in the embassay  of your country in other cities or countries as well.So I went to the hungarian embassay and vote , now it is my fellows turn back at home.
Sunday evening I met wirh Russian people in the centre and on monday I met with my indian friend , and we spent the whole day together.International -multicutural.This words were so distant for me before I was an erasmus exchange student , but now these are essential and it is so natural to meet with people from various cultures.
This Tuesday we had a short meeting with my supervisor here in the office , and pointed some future tasks. This will involve event organizing , which totally suits me.Right now I am working on an event plan , for a close HUMAK event. This is interesting , because it seems to e so easy but when you have to actually implement it , it is getting more complicated. So let´s get back to work ,hope you had a nice holiday!

Helsinki school

Weekends go faster than ever.
On Friday I visited in a Contemporary Art Museum in Meilahti with Vale and liked the exhibition with the students of Helsinki School very much.
The topic was the time-passing.The young artists made videos and photographs about their view.
It was very interesting to see different visions and techniques.I liked a series of portraits about children with ageless faces. You could not even guess when did they live , in the 1930s or nowadays.
After four rooms of photos and installations I felt again that is possible to understand contemporary art.Especially that all of the artist explained in a short video the motivation of the pieces they shared with the audience.
I advise to visit , it is  refreshing , young and understandable , full of with postive impulse (even the sad ones had the positive side).

Spring is coming

Wonderful weather yesterday in Helsinki.I felt I must go outside and take some pictures , walking around and enjoy the sun.The bay is not fully covered with ice and snow  any more, soon we will see blue sky and  sea.I hope at least.
I discovered and intersting part of Helsinki last year , it is called the design district. You can find small shops with designed furniture, jewelry ,clothes or any piece of life-style.Also there are small galleries with modern art and showrooms.I like that part of Helsinki , it feels  very trendy and fresh and the you can emphasize that everything is the part of culture , and the concept of culture is so wide. You do not have to think to do something cultural because you live in culture , every day whatever you do.I truly suggest you to visit this streets and staring on shopwindows for a while.

Some

Time goes so fast..I have spent the first month here in Helsinki...
Quite a lot happened last week.My supervisor was back from his holiday  , so I have got few new tasks.
I had to make order in some files , which suppose to be boring , bit I like making lists and categorize stuffs , so  I was ok with huge amount of paper and paper..
I have an interesting thing to do for another supervisor , which is very much connected with event management , I am happy for that.
I am going to make a presetation about Hungary as well , because the team has a meeting monthly and they discuss every important issue there. This can be  agood opportunity to introduce Hungary.
There
I finally met with my classmate from Kemi , she is living currently in Helsinki and started to study a perfectyl new subject. We had fun , talked hours.I have got  a new flatmate , and met my friends on the weekend. We went to a popular club , huge place with several bars.Unfortunately last week was not too cultural , maybe not this week either , because I have to deal my assignments for the home institution and the amount of it is kind of scary...
Fist few weeks in April should be cultural though.
Im not sure if anybody reads my blog , but if yes please contact me , and let me know what could be intereting to know about my time here.
Next post coming soon!

Weekend

Just briefly, cause I know you do not like reading that much guys. So,this weekend was a great one.Friday I went to Sibelius acadmey to prticipate in a hungarian-finnish event.Unfortunately I missunderstood the date,so on my way back to the railway station (from there supposed to go home)I went to Kiasma Museum , and watched the video installations  of  Adel Abidin,an artist from Iraq.It was not usual for me,but finally I understood art which belongs to contemporary art.Usually I do not get the point of canvases with a stripe or this kind of art.But this was real , and had an affect on me.Irony and black humor the tools what he used.I recommend to everyone.
Saturday I met with my friends , a russian girl and the vietnamise boyfriend of her.We had lunch in together and then went to Sibelius Academy (me again). The concert was mainly for finnish people to get to know hungarian culture better. The orchestra played several items from Kodaly Zoltan , the famous composer. There was also a girl singing hungarian folk songs, which was very kind for me because I used to sing that songs too.At the end a finnish choir sing in hungarian, big respect for them. For a short visit a hungarian gospel group came and performed few songs. The concert was in a small place, but each and every person enjoyed I think..
Sunday was mostly about cleaning and laundry , talking to parents in skype and sleep a lot.I like sundays like that.
Today a new week started , details coming soon!
Have a nice day:)

Second week

I am going to stay in beautiful Helsinki for the whole spring time , till the beginning of June.
The weather is already nice, + 2 and sunny , cheers me up very much and you can notice this effect on people on the streets as well.
The second week started with tasks on the internet.Familiarize myself with the internal system of HUMAK and the webpage of the university of course. Then there is a task about an upcoming event with HUMAK`s personell as participants.Exactl suits for future cultural or event managers.
The practical training also can contains individual researsch, for example I have been browsing for cultural policy issues in Finland and the finance system of culture here.
In my free time there is a lot of option to do something interesting.I plan to go to Sibelius Academy , there will a concert  on Friday arranged by the Hungarian Science and Culture Center.
On the weekend enough sleep is important but there is still time for partying and relaxing.Saturday one of my favourite dj will be in town and play in a club, probably I will check on this event.I have visited the webpage of  the Cable Factory recently .This is a huge cultural hot spot, seems to be worth to watch is.Let`s see later on  how is the weekend going to turn.
Anybody wants to join on Saturday for partying ,let me know!

First week in a nutshell

My first week was the week when I got to know everybody in the office. My supervisor introduced me to all of his collegues.Everybody was happy for a foreign student, they suppose to practice English every now and then - they said.
My tasks consisted of more part.Firs I started with international affairs. It means for example report about an internatioanl event was held lately( Erasmus Intensive Program 4 countries cooperation). It seemed pretty difficult to illustrate with charts the report. Finally I could solve it , but it took almost three days.
Next job was checking grants and projects about other cooperations , it was very interesting to read through this documents. It also took time , especially becaufe of the language. In this cases of course you have to use strict official English and proper expressions which are not part of the every-day language so it was difficult to understand sometimes , but certainly useful.
I have participated in a video conference as well  as a secretary.I have had small tasks about filing as well.
All in all the first week was nice , was  exactly like a first week should be.

My story..

Im studying in Kodolanyi Janos University College(KJUC) since 2007 in Budapest. Our school has a wide range of  programs available.I could not decide exactly in secondary school whether I am interested in tourism , sports or andragogy(the specialization what I have choosen in this field is similar to cultural management).I applied to several universities and different courses.I have got into KJUC and I think this was one of the best things happened to me .I realized later on when we started the program this is the field what suits me perfectly. There is a lot of facilities concern exchange places in the university.I applied for exchange program and I was satisfied with the result, it turned out that I can go to Kemi , Finland for four months. It was the autumn of 2008.I passed my exams successfully and left my home country in January 2009.A brand new life has just started for me..
..I just fall in love with Finland , I did not even blame on the hard winter last time.I loved Lapland and the way of life there. It is so close to the nature and very modern in one.I also made a lot of friends which is another factor contributed to this feeling. Erasmus program is about being brave, experience the methods of studying in another country and which is most important get the feeling of internationalism. It is a wise thing from the EU , to make mobility more popular.
Once you try you can not  forget and want to  try more and more different cultures and be surrounded with friends all over the world. We had a bunch of young  people , mainly students there in Kemi, with 12 nationalities at least(From India to Slovakia and from there to China...).We had parties all the time and trips to other cities as well.We learned how to be tolerant and respectful  to other people´s culture and way of life. After this experience I went back home to Hungary.I passed my exams and enjoyed the summer of 2009.I missed my hungarian friends very much , so I spent the whole summer with them and with my parents of course.I visited my favourite festivals and  I could go for summer holiday without my parents. It was fun , we spent a week in Greece. In September I started the autumn semester  and continued my studies in Budapest , at Kodolanyi Janos University.I wanted to go back to Finland and at the end I could find a place for practical training. It is the Humanist University of Applied Sciences or Humanistinen Ammatikorkeakoulu in Helsinki.I was very happy for this , of course I had to make a lot of research about the places ,  to be honest I tried a few another countries but it is fate , Finland is the winner for me apparently.
I had a 20 hours language course in Kemi which is not much , but enough for everday finnish( at least greetings and numbers ,day and name of the days).I am very keen on continue this language , very interesting .
Next post is going to tell some information about  a proper practical training in Finland.
See you everybody!

First days...

I started my practical training at Humak´s  office in Helsinki last week.
I arrived after 11 pm to Helsinki on Thursday and I thought it could be quite difficult to get  to city centre.Maria, the previous intern here came to pick me up at the airport.
To tell the truth I was scared , because she was late a little bit and I already thought I have to spend the night there. She arrived a little bit later and I could relieve. We took a bus to the centre and then another bus to Kanelmaki. This is a district of Helsinki and HUMAK has a flat there especially for students , who attend courses or practical training in Helsinki.
The way from Budapest to Helsinki was tyring so I just packed few essential things out and went to bed.
I familiarized myself with the public transport on Friday and also went to the office.Maria introduced me for my supervisors and we discussed a few things about the actual tasks.
report about my first week here , coming soon!
